Classes start every month The Open Water Diver certification includes class & pool training sessions. There are five modules to the classroom and pool portion of the course. There are also four open water completion dives required for full certification. These dives are done at a later date. Please see Open Water Completion for details and dates.
The course is performance based and designed to take you from simple to complex learning objectives. Performance based means that you must satisfactorily complete the academic and water skills requirements for each session before progressing to the next. We call this " customer orientated training", you move through at your own pace. If you find you are unable to complete a session on one of the nights, you simply complete it at another time.
In the winter months classes run Sundays from 6:00pm to 9:30pm and Mondays from 7:00pm to 10:30pm, for three weeks.
During the summer months classes are done on a weekend format starting on Friday evening from 6:00pm to 10:00pm, Saturday from 7:00am to 5:30pm, and Sunday from 8:30am to 5:00pm.
Some classes may vary If your schedule does not fit the ours, then talk to our staff and we will make sure you will be able to finish the course. With summer just around the corner we strongly advise that students book for the Completion of their Open Water course at the same time they sign up. This ensures that the skills are fresh in your head and will increase your comfort level when we hop out to the lake. The Multi Level Electronic Recreational Dive Planner or MLeRDP is fully compatible with the PADI system of diver education, offering a new modern option for learning to use dive tables. The MLeRDP provides calculator convenience and works in the same way as the printed table; enter a depth and time into the eRDP and you get the same pressure group as you would find on the Table. The same applies for calculating surface interval and adjusted times for repetitive dives.
The last Class in the winter courses we are holding a bring a friend night for a free Discover Scuba Diving. Book in advance since it might fill up fast.
During the summer months, classrom/pool session are compressed down to three-day portions, containing the same amount of class and pool time. These courses run a full Friday evening, as well as all day Saturday and Sunday.
The Fall/Winter Course schedule moves from a 3 day weekend course, as it was in the summer, to a format wherein the student attends three sets of sunday-monday evening courses over the course of a month. All six evenings should be attended.
